[She knows this, since it says on the signage in front of the cafe, which she'd headed for not long after not getting an instant reply to her last text. Train's free, may as well, and that's the most she'll let herself dwell on the matter.
His notification chimes about the same time as she's walking through the cafe door, and she ignores it, looking for him instead--just a little on edge]
[He's at a table in the corner, and it looks like he's been there a while? There's an empty cup, and a tart with one (1) bite taken out of it before it got pushed away. He's kind of slumped at the table, arm stretched out across it, head pillowed on the arm.]
[Beelines over, sitting across from him heavily enough to make significant noise. She is pretty sure her expression is properly disaffected (she hopes)]
Don't tell me you been stuffing yourself with pastries this whole time.
[He glances up, disoriented - takes a second to focus on her, and a second after that to get a smile up into place. His voice is scratchy and, frankly, almost gone. His face is flushed, and his eyes are glassy; the processing time before he replies takes a beat or two too long.]
Hey, mangoes're limited time. Gotta get em while they're in season.
[She doesn't actually come into contact with anyone for whom 98.6 is anything close to normal, so the fact that he barely feels cool at all is pretty startling]
Unless you suddenly turned un-undead again, it's something. Open up.
[Despite her tone, her hand is gentle on his chin as she checks for spots on his throat or swollen lymph nodes or...honestly she's not even sure what tonsils are, but it feels right to take a look anyway]
[No spots, but his lymph nodes are for sure swollen. When he opens up, the back of his throat looks pretty awful, too, a red so deep it's edging into purple. Probably explains why the tart is uneaten, tbh; swallowing looks like it's a bad time.]
[He starts to talk again, but the words rasp and catch, and he dissolves into an ugly coughing fit. It takes him a few minutes before he can get it under control, grimacing, and continue.]
[Holds on, and settles in for the ride. A little ways in, he just kind of. Leans forward and rests his forehead against her back, like keeping upright is too much effort.]
Re: day 14x(?)

Re: day 14x(?)
[He looks tired, and kind of worn down.]

Re: day 14x(?)
[Frowns for a moment before reaching over to feel his forehead, expression much less disaffected this time]
Re: day 14x(?)
[But he's way, way warmer than he usually is, if she thinks to make the comparison.]
...nothing. M'just tired, is all.

Re: day 14x(?)
Definitely “nothing”... Were you gonna say something or were you just gonna wait around until the place closed?
[Paps him on the head, extra light]

I was gonna head out, but I kinda got lazy.
Re: day 14x(?)
[Fetches him a glass of water, pressing it into his hand; rubs his back a little]
You drive out here or took the train?
Re: day 14x(?)
Drove out.
Re: day 14x(?)
[Holds out her hand for the keys, the other steady at his back]
Dorm work? Or the hideout better?
Re: day 14x(?)
.....hideout, probly.
Re: day 14x(?)
Re: day 14x(?)
Re: day 14x(?)
C'mon. All those blankets in the hideout'll finally come in handy.
Re: day 14x(?)
Man, I hope so. I'm freezing.
Re: day 14x(?)
[Not usually in 30-degree weather, mind you, but she keeps up the banter anyway. She mounts the bike, pats the seat behind her]
Think you can hold on 'til we get back?
Re: day 14x(?)
[Climbs up behind her.]
I can handle a quick bike trip.
Re: day 14x(?)
[She hunt-pecks a few things into her phone]
Re: day 14x(?)
Just wanna take it easy for a little.
Re: day 14x(?)
[Finally finished, she stuffs the phone back into her pocket and stands the bike, turning it on and warming up the motor a bit]
Hold on, 'kay?
