We never woulda been there if I hadn't messed up in the first place. And Req never woulda been around to get fried if I'd kept my mouth shut in that parking lot.
[He squeezes her hand, gentle.]
I'm just saying, dude - you didn't drop the ball on this one. Okay? It was bad, but it was always gonna be bad. We just gotta dump more skill points into stealth for next time, I guess.
I’m not saying we didn’t all mess up on the planning side, but— You and me, we went looking for Elly together—we went to heaven together. You didn’t mess anything up that I didn’t mess up first.
Before he meteored the city, I asked if there was a chance to get everyone and get out, and he said - he said he couldn't say for sure. That he was just one angel, and it was my call.
...
...I told him I wanted to try, if he thought we had a shot at it.
I told him to help get the people out of jail. And he told me he couldn’t just leave everybody else in Hell out of angel duty or something.
Either way he’d be going into enemy territory. Wouldn’t have made a difference if he’d busted jail outside the city instead of through it. Just as many demons around.
[He tucks his head in a little, so his forehead's resting on her shoulder. His hand is not warm where it holds her own, but the pressure is steady, at least.]
Pretty sure we're gonna have to wait for the ecosystem if we wanna go full hunter-gatherer, though.

...yeah.
You been to talk to Intensity, yet?
Re: 147, late
Said he’d still help.
[Her tone’s a bit as though she still doesn’t quite believe it yet.]
...You seen the others?

[He pauses a beat.]
Gotta get on the rest of them. I been out a lot.
Re: 147, late
Req came to see me. Haven't seen the others. Not really sure what to say.
Re: 147, late
I mean... I know I gotta do it, but.

...sounds pretty good, not gonna lie.
Re: 147, late
Maybe have somebody bring us some food every so often. Maybe not.

Re: 147, late
Req’d bring us a sandwich until that goes through. Break into the cafe in a pinch.

...I mean, they'd notice you, but that's what you get for being friendly.
Re: 147, late
They'd notice you, for sure.
[No comment on him. The image of the world passing him by outside the mirror and just not caring is a little too fresh for that.]
