[Purses her lips, sighing; that doesn’t look fun at all]

Definitely “nothing”... Were you gonna say something or were you just gonna wait around until the place closed?

[Paps him on the head, extra light]

Figured hanging out wasn't hurting nothing?

[He starts to talk again, but the words rasp and catch, and he dissolves into an ugly coughing fit. It takes him a few minutes before he can get it under control, grimacing, and continue.]

I was gonna head out, but I kinda got lazy.

'Course not, being a human biohazard never hurt nobody.

[Fetches him a glass of water, pressing it into his hand; rubs his back a little]

You drive out here or took the train?

[He sips at the water, gingerly - grimaces again, when he swallows.]

Drove out.

C'mon, then, while you still can; you're gonna be pissed if I leave your leg behind 'cause it's too heavy.

[Holds out her hand for the keys, the other steady at his back]

Dorm work? Or the hideout better?

[Hands her the keys, and considers going back to the dorm, for a beat or two.]

.....hideout, probly.

[Notices, but...well. She gets to her feet, and waits to see if he can do the same]

[Gets up, but it takes some doing; he kind of sways a little, when he gets there.]

[Sticks beside him, arm around his back; walks him out to the bike]

C'mon. All those blankets in the hideout'll finally come in handy.

[Goes easy enough, though he probably wouldn't be walking quite straight if she wasn't there to keep him stead.]

Man, I hope so. I'm freezing.

You're always freezing.

[Not usually in 30-degree weather, mind you, but she keeps up the banter anyway. She mounts the bike, pats the seat behind her]

Think you can hold on 'til we get back?

I got a sore throat, not the plague or nothing.

[Climbs up behind her.]

I can handle a quick bike trip.

Alright. I gotta run by the dorm though; there anything you want me to pick up?

[She hunt-pecks a few things into her phone]

Naw, I'm good.

Just wanna take it easy for a little.

That part's a given.

[Finally finished, she stuffs the phone back into her pocket and stands the bike, turning it on and warming up the motor a bit]

Hold on, 'kay?

[Holds on, and settles in for the ride. A little ways in, he just kind of. Leans forward and rests his forehead against her back, like keeping upright is too much effort.]

[Does not seem to take any issue with this. She slows down to something closer to the speed limit, takes a route with minimal bumps and only a few smooth curves.

When they're near the dorm, she pulls off in an alley, looking to see if he can hold tight long enough for her to pick up a few things from inside or if he needs to be horizontal sooner rather than later]

[He's not looking great? But he's still upright, and he flashes her a tired smile and a thumbs up.]

It cool if I wait here?

'Course. I'll be right back, so hold tight, okay?

[Dismounts and hesitates, touches his arm]

...Right back.

Hey, not like I'm gonna run off or nothing.

[Looks away, and heads off to the front entrance]

[...she probably doesn't see how soft this smile is, then.]

[He settles in to wait, and it's not super long before he just out and out puts his head down on the handlebars.]

[She's gone for a while--the elevators must have stopped at each floor twice--but eventually trots back with her satchel packed with stuff. As she approaches the bike, she reaches out for his shoulder, light]

Back, finally. Didn't miss beating up any roving gangs of toughs or nothing, did I?

Naw, nothing super exciting.

[He stirs and forces himself upright again, but it is definitely an effort.]

[Slips in in front of him quick so he can lean back if he wants, balancing her satchel in front of her.]

Guess we'll have to save the chills and thrills for later, then. Hopefully you can wait a little longer.
